Neck pain is very common and most people with suffer an episode of neck pain in their life. It is the most mobile part of the spine and is quite vulnerable to issues. Neck pain can also refer to pain in the head and arm. Headaches can also occur as a result of neck pain.

There are many causes for neck pain such as whiplash, stress, poor posture, muscle spasm, arthritic joints, trauma, disc lesions and wear and tear.

Neck pain can become quite severe which may lead you to take time off work, stop a sport or going to the gym and can affect sleep. Many people will leave their neck pain untreated and simply hope it will go away by itself. Leaving neck pain untreated will lengthen recovery time for when you do seek treatment.

Symptoms of neck pain can include sharp pain on moving the neck, limited movement, dull constant pain, tightness in the neck muscles and headaches.

Neck pain can become quite complicated as it has such a vast influence on the body also, affecting movements, posture, pathology, traumas and accidents.

A thorough consultation and assessment will take place in order to create a diagnosis and clear treatment plan to combat your neck pain. Dependent upon the findings, treatment can involve soft tissue work, manipulation, joint mobilisation, muscle energy techniques and plenty of advice of self-care/ awareness.
